Myanmar: Bridges to Change

You may have heard about the American-Burmese expedition team that recently climbed Mount Gamlang Razi, with the hopes of measuring its elevation and establishing a new highest peak in Southeast Asia. You may have read a snippet of the beauty, the dangers, the success, and the controversy that surrounded their journey, and the dismissal of their data that shows that Gamlang Razi is in fact Southeast Asia’s highest peak by many Burmese natives, including Myanmar’s president. However, this is only part of their story. And today, the trailer for Myanmar: Bridges to Change, a film capturing their entire journey, was released. I have to say, it looks pretty awesome. Father of GIS, Roger Tomlinson, Has Died

We are sorry to hear about the passing of Roger Tomlinson, considered the Father of GIS. Tomlinson was an English geographer and was the major innovator of modern computerized GIS. He will be greatly missed in the GIS community and elsewhere.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014

Here’s a quick trade show update. Juniper Systems is headed to CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 in Las Vegas from March 4-8. If you haven’t heard of it, CONEXPO-CON/AGG is a huge trade show that features new products and technologies from 2,400 exhibitors in every major construction industry.
