Juniper Systems employees worked together with members of the Bear River Land Conservancy in an effort to aid in conservation of important habitat along the Bear River. Using the Geode Sub-meter GPS Receiver, the Mesa 2 Rugged Tablet, and the Allegro 2, a handful of our rugged handheld enthusiasts mapped updates and information on important plants, large debris, fence lines, and more while getting additional hands-on experience using Juniper’s data collection solutions.

We make organizing internal opportunities like this a priority because they allow Juniper Systems’ employees to put themselves in the shoes of the individuals using our products and evaluate improvements that could be made to improve user experience. By volunteering with the Bear River Land Conservancy, employees were able to use their experience and turn it into ideas for product improvements while contributing to a cause Juniper Systems has always been passionate about.

Like any healthy long-term relationship, business partnerships take time, patience, and understanding. At Juniper, we’ve been involved in many partnerships throughout the years, and learned a variety of lessons along the way. When maintained correctly, partnerships can act as one of the driving factors of success and revenue. The key is understanding how to keep the relationship healthy and flourishing, while implementing these understandings into day-to-day interactions. Below are 9 tips for achieving a successful business partnership and a couple of pointers on where to start. While reading through our suggestions, take a mental assessment of where your organization fits and which areas could use improvement—should that count as number one?

  1. Establish a clear and careful vetting process

Setting expectations should be one of the very first steps in establishing a partnership. Starting with varying ideologies will invite conflict and frustration into the relationship before it even begins. Set yourself up for success. At Juniper Systems, we strive to implement this into our day-to-day by referring to our list of 15 company maxims. This list of company ideals/morals help us align with like-minded companies that share similar values and goals. In addition to our maxims, we also have a partner application and clear vetting process that considers all factors, not solely financial benefit. We focus on selecting partners who will be dedicated to serving customers, represent our products well, and offering valuable problem-solving solutions. Consider the long-term benefit of being selective with the partnerships you form, and make partner selections accordingly.

“Some days, the little extra push of our competition makes the difference for me getting out to do my daily exercise. Our competition is making a difference for me. It has only been a few weeks. But I’ve lost weight. I’m stronger. And I’m thankful to participate and leverage our competition for the extra bit of motivation that I need some days.” -Kent Campbell, Product Assurance Engineer

For the past three months, Juniper Systems employees have worked to improve themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially through a variety of activities and challenges presented by Juniper’s Human Resources team. Split into groups of 8-9, these seven teams fought hard to earn points and bring their team to the top. Points were scored on both the individual and team level with a number of points awarded for 30 minutes of daily exercise, including others in your exercise, tracking diet, planning/participating in company-wide activities, mental/emotional self-assessments, getting a physical, and much more. And though this program was voluntary, more than half of the company chose to participate. Talk about a tight bunch. Continue Reading…

Ron Campbell 2

Following a long and successful career, Juniper Systems Founder and Chairman Ron Campbell retired from the company on May 31, 2017. With a retirement open house held on May 25 to celebrate his impactful career, his family, friends, coworkers, and colleagues gathered to wish him well and reminisce on the many memory-filled years together.

At the open house, several Juniper Systems employees spoke about the achievements Ron has made over the years, and the positive impact he has had on each one of them. During the program, it was announced that a perpetual college scholarship would be established in Ron’s name to honor his love for education and life-long learning. Ron was also presented with a plaque and a book filled with thoughtful entries from almost every employee at Juniper to serve as a reminder of how appreciated his efforts truly are and how much he means to this organization.

Mesa 2 In Hand 2

For those of you who are new to the world of RFID and rugged handheld computing, welcome. We hope this post serves as a guide to help you better understand which information collection option best suits the needs of your project. A common question often answered here at Juniper is, “Which RFID frequency should I use?” We want to make sure you’re getting the tools you need, without overpaying for features that won’t be useful in your situation. Because identification readers are used in so many different cases, it’s hard to identify a customer’s exact needs without speaking to them directly. However, we hope these questions serve as a starting point to launch you in the right direction and prepare you to ask the right questions when determining the best option for your project.
