Juniper Systems has worked to develop a rigorous quality-assurance process to ensure each Mesa 2 Rugged Tablet that leaves our doors goes with the same quality standard we hold ourselves to. As a company that operates almost entirely under one roof, we have the benefit of working closely with all individuals involved in the process, from product development to shipping. This allows for quick clarity on order specifications and improvement input from our entire team. Our process set in place for quality assurance is constantly improving and being updated for any issue that comes our way. Though we’re pretty proud of our current quality assurance process, we recognize there is always room for improvement. Because of this, a combination of teams focusing on different aspects of quality assurance meet regularly to discuss improvements and work toward maintaining a thorough quality inspection process. Below is an outline of our current process.

Android-Open-Source-Project

Android™ has emerged with growing popularity in the handheld arena, from smartphones to tablets to other devices, it’s here to stay. Since its notable growth, Google has been working toward making various forms of Android available for enterprise devices as well as other device types such as Internet of Things. In the world of rugged handhelds, device manufactures have been turning to Android to participate in the Android “ecosystem” and provide users with an easy-to-use, versatile operating system.

To avoid confusion, it’s important to understand the differences between Android Open Source Project (AOSP) devices and Android Google Mobile Services (GMS) devices, as many individuals have the misconception that all Android operating systems have the same capabilities. The key to differentiating between the two is first recognizing that AOSP is the basis for all Android devices. Sponsored and lead by Google, AOSP provides the source code necessary to build an Android-compatible operating system. GMS is added to select “authorized” Android devices. GMS is generally enticing to consumers/end users because it allows access to a large quantity of applications through the Google Play Store. It also provides several other applications including Gmail, Chrome browser, Google Maps, etc. If it is an “authorized” Android device, it will include GMS with all associated apps preinstalled.

This heroic Allegro™ was caught in a combine fire, and was forever after fondly referred to as “the chicken-fried Allegro” by those at Juniper Systems. Amazingly, the data was recovered in full from the handheld.

At Juniper Systems, we take pride in the care we are able to provide to our customers. As a company that functions almost entirely under one roof, we have the ability to provide customers with immediate support, no matter the question or problem. Our CompleteCare packages take that customer service one step further. Arsenic is a carcinogen, increasing cancer rates for those who ingest it. Found at high levels in the groundwater in a number of countries, a group of seven Utah State University engineering students left for the Puno region of Peru, just north of Lake Titicaca, to work toward eliminating the problem. After data collection training from members of the Juniper Systems team and extensive arsenic removal research prior to the trip, students worked to identify arsenic levels through sample mapping and removal exploration. In addition to focusing on unsafe levels, the students also followed up on the success of previous projects and future project ideas to discover other ways of improving the living conditions of these Peruvian communities. And they did it all with the Archer 2 as an epic companion—R2-D2 style.

Because the Mesa 2 Rugged Tablet was designed for a wide range of uses, we developed a variety of carrying options to meet the needs of the individual user. With the carrying options listed below, you have the ability to optimize your current workflow and increase productivity, simply by changing the way you carry your Mesa 2.

Carrying Options

  1. Pistol Grip

The Pistol Grip is the ideal choice for all the frequent barcode scanners out there. This option features an ergonomic, two-stage trigger design focused on reducing strain and maximizing productivity during heavy barcode-scanning applications. The Pistol Grip Holster (sold separately) accompanies the grip to securely fasten the device to a belt or shoulder strap for convenient carry and deployment. Entirely compatible with the M2 Office Dock, the Pistol Grip allows for simple docking and charging, without removal of the grip. In addition, it can be used as a convenient desk stand for easy viewing of the Mesa 2’s large 7-inch display.

Juniper Systems employees worked together with members of the Bear River Land Conservancy in an effort to aid in conservation of important habitat along the Bear River. Using the Geode Sub-meter GPS Receiver, the Mesa 2 Rugged Tablet, and the Allegro 2, a handful of our rugged handheld enthusiasts mapped updates and information on important plants, large debris, fence lines, and more while getting additional hands-on experience using Juniper’s data collection solutions.

We make organizing internal opportunities like this a priority because they allow Juniper Systems’ employees to put themselves in the shoes of the individuals using our products and evaluate improvements that could be made to improve user experience. By volunteering with the Bear River Land Conservancy, employees were able to use their experience and turn it into ideas for product improvements while contributing to a cause Juniper Systems has always been passionate about.

Like any healthy long-term relationship, business partnerships take time, patience, and understanding. At Juniper, we’ve been involved in many partnerships throughout the years, and learned a variety of lessons along the way. When maintained correctly, partnerships can act as one of the driving factors of success and revenue. The key is understanding how to keep the relationship healthy and flourishing, while implementing these understandings into day-to-day interactions. Below are 9 tips for achieving a successful business partnership and a couple of pointers on where to start. While reading through our suggestions, take a mental assessment of where your organization fits and which areas could use improvement—should that count as number one?

  1. Establish a clear and careful vetting process

Setting expectations should be one of the very first steps in establishing a partnership. Starting with varying ideologies will invite conflict and frustration into the relationship before it even begins. Set yourself up for success. At Juniper Systems, we strive to implement this into our day-to-day by referring to our list of 15 company maxims. This list of company ideals/morals help us align with like-minded companies that share similar values and goals. In addition to our maxims, we also have a partner application and clear vetting process that considers all factors, not solely financial benefit. We focus on selecting partners who will be dedicated to serving customers, represent our products well, and offering valuable problem-solving solutions. Consider the long-term benefit of being selective with the partnerships you form, and make partner selections accordingly.
