Here’s why: on December 19^th, a new law was enacted that expanded Section 179 of the Tax Extenders Act to allow up to $500,000 in tax deductions on new and used equipment, as well as off-the-shelf software. That’s a $475,000 increase from the previous amount!

But here’s the kicker: the equipment must be purchased and put into business use by midnight on December 31, 2014 to be eligible for the deduction.
