The Mesa® Pro Rugged Tablet offers a robust and powerful 10-inch Windows device for users that need powerful processing power while still needing to operate in the field under any condition. The Mesa Pro is Juniper Systems’ first 10-inch rugged tablet. Built on the experience of all its rugged handhelds before it the Mesa Pro brings Juniper’s world-class ruggedness, design, and support to an all-new form factor.
In this article, we take an in-depth look at what the Mesa Pro offers in computing performance, display performance, use in the field and the office, durability testing, customization options, and hardware expansions.
Performance tiers and options for every use case
For the first time with a Juniper device, Mesa Pro offers multiple performance tiers for users to choose from. Having multiple configurations gives the team at Juniper and users the opportunity to assess performance needs and select the model that is right for their application.
All Mesa Pro configurations include 11th Generation Intel® processors. An Intel® Core™ i5 processor ships standard on Mesa Pro. Paired with 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, the standard Mesa Pro offers a very well-balanced machine that can easily handle data collection in the field and replace a laptop in the office.
For users with use cases that require more computing performance, such as running CAD-type programs or complex data stacks, a Core™ i7 model is available. The i7 model also comes equipped with 16 GB of RAM and offers a premium computing experience in the field and the office.
For use cases that require less computing power, a Mesa Pro model with a Celeron™ processor is available. The Celeron model comes with 8 GB of RAM and offers good performance at a lower cost of entry.
For storage, each model of Mesa can be upgraded from the standard 128 GB (i5 and Celeron) and 256 GB (i7) at the time of purchase. Upgrades include 256 GB (SATA), 512 GB (PCIe), and 1 TB (PCIe).
Recap:
Standard: 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i5, 16 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage (upgradable to 256 GB, 512 GB PCIe, 1 TB PCIe)
Processor upgrade: 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage (upgradable to 512 GB PCIe, 1 TB PCIe)
Entry level/Basic needs: 11th Generation Intel® Core™ Celeron™, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage (upgradable to 256 GB, 512 GB PCIe, 1 TB PCIe)
Sunlight-readable 10-inch display
The Mesa Pro is Juniper’s first rugged tablet in the 10-inch segment. The 10.1-inch display offers a resolution of 1920×1200. This resolution allows for more to be displayed on screen, whether it’s maps, CAD plans, or data capture software, users can expect to see more of their data on screen at once.
The high-visibility backlit LCD offers 800 NITs of peak brightness for a bright image even in direct sunlight. An integrated polarizer (landscape orientation) allows for use with polarized sunglasses.
All-day battery life
The Mesa Pro features a battery design that allows for all-day use. It uses removable 43.2 Whr batteries, 86.4 Whr total when using two batteries. The dual battery approach allows for easy charging in the field as well as hot-swapping capabilities. An integrated LED charge indicator also provides instant feedback when grabbing batteries to swap in, making sure users always have a full charge. A dual-bay battery charger is available that allows for the fast charging of two batteries.

Juniper Rugged™ design
The Mesa Pro has been developed to continue Juniper’s legacy of creating rugged devices for mobile workers in any environment. An aluminum frame gives the whole device a rigid core. This frame helps give support to the much larger 10.1-inch display. The display offers the largest area of potential damage from impact. An optically bonded screen and the frame underneath offer protection to the display.
The large corner bumpers offer protection to the device in the case of falls and help the screen from falling flat by providing a gap between the screen and the ground. The other case materials offer a strong and durable outer body to the device.

Built-to-order in the United States, customizable to meet any industry need
Juniper Systems has a long history of designing and assembling its products right here in the United States. Mesa Pro is no different. It was designed to offer a robust rugged tablet for any industry. It was also designed so that it could be customized to meet the needs of any industry.
Device customization plays a key role in allowing Juniper Systems to equip users with the field computer that best fits their needs. As an original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Juniper has worked with many companies looking to develop a tablet for their user base.
Customization options range from simple branding changes, such as changing bumper colors as well as adding company logos to the device, all the way to custom devices that integrate a company’s proprietary technology.
The Mesa Pro was designed to offer a wide range of customization options. Traditional branding customization options remain the same but the options for integrated hardware solutions have increased. With two open areas within the device for expansion, options for hardware integrations are expanded. Potential hardware integrations include radios, sensors, RFID, barcode, antennas, or other hardware that a company may be looking to integrate. In the past Juniper has helped companies take hardware solutions that included two to three individual pieces of equipment and condense them into one device.
All-new accessories
The Mesa Pro launches with accessories that increase the usability of the device in any environment. For accessories inside the box, users will find an included hand strap, stylus, and tether. Additional accessories available for the Mesa Pro at launch include an adjustable office stand, plastic carrying handle, RAM mounts, battery charger (charges two batteries at a time), and additional batteries.
