EMS World Expo 2024 in Las Vegas brought together thousands of EMTs, paramedics, and healthcare leaders from around the globe. The exhibit floor was full of excitement, ambition, and new ideas, providing attendees with valuable insights and tools in the industry. Juniper Systems was thrilled to be a part of the event. As a leading provider of rugged handheld computers and data collection services, Juniper showcased its latest products designed to enhance efficiency in emergencies. Here are the highlights:

Mesa® Pro with Keyboard

Mesa Pro Rugged Tablet with 10 inch screen.

The Mesa Pro Rugged Tablet with keyboard accessory by far gained the most interest and it’s no wonder why. The large 10-inch screen provides ample space for viewing patient records, mapping software, and treatment protocols. The Mesa Pro runs on Windows 11, powered by an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor with up to 16 gigabytes of system memory (fantastic for handling large files). Accessories include an optional powered vehicle mount and keyboard, offering the perfect blend of portability and functionality for EMS professionals. With its ability to transition between a handheld and a mini-laptop setup, this versatile tool allows EMTs to efficiently document care, communicate with team members, and manage logistics, both in the field and inside hospitals.

Mesa® 4 Rugged Tablet

The Mesa® 4 Rugged Tablet also gained a lot of interest from those looking for a smaller screen and lighter portability. A small 7-inch screen tablet is ideal for rapid-response scenarios and tight spaces, such as ambulances. The Mesa 4’s lightweight and compact design allows for easy one-handed use, enabling first responders to quickly access critical information and communicate on the go. It runs on Windows 11 Pro OS and is powered by a 12th-generation Intel N200 processor with a 3.7 GHz burst processor speed and up to 16 GB of RAM. Also available with optional tablet vehicle mount and keyboard, this rugged tablet manages demanding applications and tasks with ease.

Both rugged devices are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE multicarrier-capable and can come with optional FirstNet Band 14 mobile broadband to ensure a stable and reliable connection. The all-day battery life ensures the tablets remain operational throughout long shifts and during power outages. These touchscreen tablets also carry different touch profiles that can be used in wet conditions, with gloved hands, or with a tablet stylus for endless versatility.

Real Tough Tablets

EMS World was yet another tradeshow where Juniper employees showed off our durable tablets by throwing them on the ground and picking them up without even a scratch. The Mesa Pro and Mesa 4 can afford to get a bit beaten up with their robust construction. They come with an aluminum rigid core with bumpers for shock-proof resilience and MIL-STD-810 performance standards, safe from drops, shock, vibration, humidity, scorching heat, and frigid cold temperatures. Built to endure the harshest conditions, the Mesa 4 and Mesa Pro are up for the challenge when it comes to treating patients at the scene of an incident.

The Mesa 4 and Mesa Pro can also afford to get a little bit grimy with an IP68 rating for protection. The 6 means these are entirely dustproof tablets. The 8 means they are waterproof tablets that can be fully submerged in water for 30 minutes. This sturdy build means the tablets repel all sorts of elements from dust, rain, blood, and other messes found on the job.

Juniper rugged tablets provide EMTs and paramedics with a dependable solution for accessing patient information, documenting care, and communicating with dispatch—all while on the move. These benefits make rugged tablets an invaluable asset in unpredictable environments of emergency medical services.

EMS World Expo is an event that continues to serve as an invaluable resource for EMS professionals. We look forward to seeing how advancements shape the future of EMS and can’t wait to gather again next year for another unforgettable event.
