Precision matters when working out in the field. Whether you’re collecting data, mapping assets, or sharing documentation, touchscreens are challenging with rain, condensation, low temperatures, mud, dust, or when wearing gloves. That’s why the new Alta Rugged Tablet includes support for an EMR stylus, giving users a more accurate and reliable way to interact with their device in demanding environments.
Unlike traditional active pens that require charging or batteries, Alta’s battery-free EMR stylus is always ready to use. This passive stylus signals pressure levels in real time, providing precise touch control for detailed work. Markup maps, complete forms, and collect field data without worrying about battery life or connectivity.
What makes the Alta durable tablet especially powerful is how the EMR stylus works alongside AdapTouch™ technology. The 8-inch display supports input from bare hands, gloved hands, and the EMR stylus pen, automatically detecting conditions and switching to the appropriate touch mode. Users no longer need to manually change settings when switching environments. AdapTouch also distinguishes intentional touches versus unwanted inputs such as raindrops on the screen.
Additionally, one of the tablet’s programmable keys can be configured to disable touchscreen input entirely, allowing the display to respond only to the EMR tablet stylus. This means rain, pooled water, or even wiping your hand across the screen won’t generate accidental inputs, but the stylus will still trigger precise touches right where you intended. When conditions improve, touchscreen functionality can be instantly restored with the press of a button.
The EMR stylus is just one part of Alta’s mission to deliver dependable rugged mobile computing. Combined with an IP68 rugged tablet design, Android 16, all-day battery options, and support for glove and wet-touch operation, Alta helps organizations maintain accuracy and productivity wherever work takes them.
For professionals who need precise input without sacrificing durability, the Alta Rugged Tablet, powered by Android® combines an EMR stylus with field data collection capabilities for reliable performance in real-world conditions.
