EMR Stylus and Touch Profiles
Fieldwork doesn’t stop when conditions get tough, and neither does this tablet with stylus powered by Android. Whether you’re working in rain, snow, mud, or dust, Alta’s touchscreen delivers a responsive reliable touch experience.
The 8-inch display supports multi-touch input with bare hands, gloves, or an EMR stylus, giving users the flexibility to work comfortably in virtually any condition. Even more importantly, users no longer have to manually switch between different touch modes. Alta’s AdapTouch™ senses when you are touching the screen with bare or gloved hands, or if the screen is wet, automatically switching to the correct mode. AdapTouch records intentional touches while others, like raindrops, are ignored. And because we recognize that some like to control their experience, you can still manually select any of the modes.
For even greater precision, even when the screen is soaked, Alta supports an EMR passive stylus, a wireless, battery-free pen for better touch control — making it easy to collect detailed field data, markup maps, images and forms, and capture signatures. And for the ultimate EMR experience, use one of the programmable keys to disable the touchscreen so the screen only responds to the EMR stylus. In this configuration, rain, pooling water, or even using your hand to wipe water off the screen will not activate a response. Then, when conditions improve, press the programmable key again to enable touchscreen mode.
Juniper Rugged
Professionals need a durable tablet so they don’t have to worry about drops, a cracked screen, internal damage, or total device failure. Alta can afford to get a bit beaten up. It’s impact-absorbing, overmolded bumpers for shock-proof resilience, scratch-resistant, chemically-strengthened cover glass, and MIL-STD-810H performance standards keep it safe from drops, shock, vibration, humidity, scorching heat, and frigid cold temperatures.
In fact, Alta has a wider extreme temperature tolerance than past tablets, ranging from -20°F to 140°F (-29°C to 60°C). Gone are the days of tucking your tablet inside your coat to keep the battery warm and alive while working in sub-zero temperatures. Alta’s batteries are specially formulated to provide reliable, long-lasting power all the way down to the lowest temperature in the range.
We get it. Our rugged tablets are used in some pretty demanding environments. That’s why Alta has an IP68 protection rating that can handle getting muddy, wet, and grimy, as it’s sealed against dust, dirt, and rain. (The 6 means entirely dustproof. The 8 means waterproof and can be fully submerged in water up to 3.3 feet deep/1 meter for 30 minutes.)
Tired of USB cables falling out of the port when your tablet bounces or vibrates on the dashboard? Rest assured, Alta’s USB-C ports (that’s right, two ruggedized ports, plural) are made to stay in place, so you no longer have to deal with unwanted disconnections.
